Breeze blocks & custom block
A breeze block is as much about what is open as what is solid. Its voids frame views, admit light, and create a sense of privacy without closing a place off. We explore original patterns and custom ideas in relation to the whole room, courtyard, or garden.
The opening is part of the design
Begin with the view through the wall, the rhythm of the openings, and the shadows they create. Pattern, scale, color, and material develop together, whether the project calls for a familiar mid-century block or a custom design explored with a maker.
Walls that breathe and shade
A screen can define a place to sit, filter a view, and let air and light move through. We consider those experiences alongside the surrounding planting, lighting, and existing building, then collaborate with the people who will make and install it.
Light, softened by glass.
Glass block brings a different kind of openness: daylight can pass through while the view becomes softer and less defined. We explore its texture, module, and setting as part of the whole room—a luminous stair wall, a sheltered entry, or a partition that shares light between spaces. In this study, rippled glass catches the changing sun and casts shifting reflections across timber and stone.

A wall that holds the light.
Textured glass, warm timber, and a softened glimpse of the garden. An exploration of privacy, reflection, and light moving through a room.

Custom blocks, made around your idea
We can create original breeze blocks and decorative blocks around the pattern, proportions, and feeling you have in mind. From a single repeating module to a larger composition, we explore the solid form and the openings together—how they frame a view, filter light, and relate to the surrounding space.
Recreating vintage patterns
Have an original block you love, a damaged piece, or a pattern that is no longer available? We can help recreate vintage blocks for repairs, extensions, or new installations that carry the design forward. An existing sample provides a starting point for studying the geometry, dimensions, surface, and character of the original.
Old ideas. Modern tools.
3D scanning, digital modeling, and modern prototyping can help capture an existing block and develop a repeatable design. We can use that model to explore replacements, refine a new pattern, and develop prototypes or mold-making masters with fabrication partners. The process is chosen around the original piece, the material, and the number of blocks needed.
From sample to finished block
Start with a sample, photographs, dimensions, or an idea. We review the pattern and intended setting, develop the digital design, and explore a prototype before moving toward molds and casting. Texture, color, aggregate, and finish are considered alongside the geometry, with sample review helping establish the right direction.
Collaboration and experimentation
We are open to collaborations and experimentation with designers, artists, architects, makers, and curious clients. Bring an unusual pattern, a material to explore, or an idea that is still taking shape. We welcome the chance to test possibilities, develop prototypes, and discover something together.
Made to belong
A recreated pattern should feel at home beside the original. A custom design should belong to its setting. We work with clients, makers, and installers to develop the block and its place in the wider design, from a small preservation project to a courtyard screen or feature wall.
